Hyundai Global Service (HGS) held a technology seminar at Posidonia 2022, the three major maritime and shipping exhibitions held in Athens, Greece, on the 8th (Wed). HGS presented various de-carbonization solutions and the result of 50K MR tankers Joint Industry Project (JIP) with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) and DNV at the seminar.
The seminar has two parts. In Part 1 by HGS exclusively, HGS has pointed out converting aging LNG carriers into FSRUs to prepare for the increasing demand for LNG. HGS introduced other carbon dioxide reduction solutions, for example, developing energy-saving devices, Alternative Maritime Power (AMP), and dual-fueled propulsion retrofitting. Then, Integrated Smartship Solution (ISS), a digital solution for ships, Hyundai intelligent GHG Solution Platform (HiGSP) to respond to carbon dioxide emission regulations, and Hyundai intelligent Smart Solution Service System (Hi4S), a digital onshore control solution, was introduced.
In Part 2, HGS, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD), and DNV Classification presented joint research on next-generation tankers under 'The Future of 50K MR Tanker Ships':
This technical seminar is meaningful because it presented the research results considering the actual operating environment. The HGS officer said that it plans to predict and evaluate the environmental impact over the entire lifetime of ships by reflecting on real-time external changes and will provide insights so that customers can select the appropriate future fuel. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) Group booth will be opened from the 6th (Mon) to the 10th (Fri) at Hall 3 No.507 in conjunction with the HHI Engine & Machinery Division and Hyundai Electric to conduct face-to-face sales activities.
