Hyundai Global Service announced that it has launched the world's first ship air cleaning system "Smart Air Safe (S.A.S)" through the service letter issued on 22nd March.

Smart Air Safe is an air filtration system developed to protect crews from the risk of virus infection because the air keeps circulating through the air conditioning system inside the ship.

While directly sterilizing bacteria and viruses in the air through UV-C lamp mounted on the system, airborne contaminants will be removed by passing through double filters.

According to the test conducted by Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL), 99.9% of antiviral performance and 99.8% removal of airborne contaminants were proven. 

S.A.S is installed under the ventilation hole of the ceiling, so it occupies small space and the user can easily determine the current air condition by the color of LED light.

An official from Hyundai Global Service said, "Installation is simple and the advantage of S.A.S is that it can provide clean and safe air to the crew throughout the voyage."
